Sarah Cmyra Hughes, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Collins Hughes was born one mile west of New Marion Jan 15,1863, age 81 years 11 months and 30 days an departed this life Jan 4, 1945. She was one of a family of 13 of which all have preceded her into the great beyond with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Ida Furlow of New Marion. She was one of a few school teachers, having taught at several schools in the community in which she spent her life. A member of the New Marion church since early childhood, although difficult to attend regularly, she was a faithful member. She was united in marriage to William J. Holman April 2, 1893, who preceded her in death July 1, 1935. To this union were born eight children: Thomas C. of North Vernon, IN, Therle B. of San Bernadino CA, Corliss H. address unknown, William L. of New Marion, Elizabeth M. Corey of Indianapolis IN, Leo H. of Pontiac MI, John M. of Osgood IN, Truman J. of Knightstown IN, all who are left to mourn her loss. Also 18 grandchildren, four of who are serving in the Armed Forces, also one Gold Star, Richard Adron Holman having passed on while serving in the Air Force. In late years she was happy in taking care of and being with her many grandchildren and doing good for other, a loving mother will be missed.

And there is comfort in the thought
that a loving God knows best.

Our sorrow at the passing of our dear mother, Mrs. Cmyra Hughes, was softened as much as grief can be by the kind thoughtfulness and sympathy extended to us by our many friends, neighbors and relatives. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one.
