Funeral services for Charles W. Thomas, 77, who passed away at his home near Iberia Wednesday morning of last week, were held Friday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Iberia Church of the Nazarene. Rev. A. O. Shearrer, pastor of the church, was the officiating minister. Burial was in the Iberia Cemetery under direction of Hedges Funeral Home of Iberia.
Pall Bearers were Elmer Keeth, Leonard Keeth, Austin Barnett, Claude Thomas, Everett Thomas, and Billy Thomas.
Charles Wilkens Thomas, a life-long resident of Miller County, son of Cornelius and Caroline Thomas, was born April 29, 18874, in Camden County, Mo., and passed away at his home near Iberia, Mo., on July 25, 1951 at 4:30 a.m. at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 26 days.
On November 20, 1897, he was united in marriage to Myrtia Mae Atwell, and to this union 4 children were born; two sons, Vincent of St. Louis, Mo., and Buford of Iberia, Mo., and two daughters, Electa Denton and Gladys Groves of Iberia, Mo.
In August of 1921, he accepted his Lord and united with the Christian New Light Church and lived in this faith all of his life.
He had been bothered with heart trouble for some time, and Wednesday morning of last week his wife called him several times without an answer. She then went to his bed and found he had passed away.
He was a kind and loving husband and father, and was loved by all his neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his wife, his children and 5 grandchildren, also four sisters, Nettie Barnett of Iberia, Ettie Thompson of Osceola, Mo., Elle Keeth of Oklahoma, and Maggie Nelson of Palm Beach, Florida, and many other relatives and friends.
