Howard Lloyd Van Winkle was born on March 19, 1930 in San Antonio, TX and went to be with his Lord on April 19, 2011 in Lytle, TX.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 62 years, Annie (McMonagle) Van Winkle. He is also survived by his; son, Donald Van Winkle of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Linda Becker & her husband, Jim of Lytle, TX; brothers, Wayne Van Winkle of Hondo, TX, Jack Van Winkle of Rockport, TX; sister, Mary Berg of Hye, TX; grandchildren, David Van Winkle of Dayton, OH, William Parke Van Winkle of San Antonio, TX, Stacy McAnarney of San Antonio, TX, Erin Clark of Leander, TX; great-grandchildren, John Esposito, Madison McAnarney, Logan Clark, Ryan Clark, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Ona Ruth Van Winkle and grandson Christopher Becker.
Howard had many accomplishments to include a Golden Gloves Championship, a lifetime member of the Devine Golf Club, and a member and bandleader in several Western and Bluegrass bands.
He was a private pilot, a Free Mason for over 50 years and a member of the Lytle United Methodist Church.
Howard was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at the Hurley Funeral Home in Lytle, 14822 Main St., Lytle, TX 78052. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 22, 2011 at 10:00am at the Lytle United Methodist Church, 19341 S. Somerset St., Lytle, TX, with interment to follow at the Lytle Community Cemetery.
