Mrs. E. R. Nagel Dies After Long Illness: Funeral Set Tuesday
Mrs. E. R. Nagel, a native of Germany who had lived in Texas more than half a century, died at noon Monday in her 74th year. She had been ailing for the past four months.
Mrs. Nagel was born on November 23, 1874 at Senst in Germany Anhalt and emigrated to Texas in 1890 with her mother, brothers and sisters.
Three years later she was married too Reinhold Lillge but his death occurred in 1896 after the birth of two daughters. In 1898, Mrs. Nagel married again to Ernest R. Nagel, who died on September 13, 1944.
Surviving are six children. These include: Rudolph and Hilmar Nagel, Mrs. Henry Landbeck and Mrs. C. G. Adolf, all of Gonzales and Arthur and Mrs. Paul Adlof of San Antonio.
She also leaves three step daughters, Bettie, Meta and Sophia Nagel, all of Houston; a brother, Otto Straach of Rowena, Texas; and a sister, Mrs. A. R. Eckermann of San Antonio.
The funeral will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday from the Seydler Chapel. Mrs. Nagel was a member of the Methodist church, which she joined in 1897.
