A letter received in the 1970's from James' mother, Carrie Elamina Stahlnecker Beidler, to her daughter, Doris M. Beidler Cochran, outlined their family line to the Stahlneckers of Bucks County. In that letter, his mother stated that James was deceased and was buried in the Neshaminy-Warwick Cemetery, Hartsville,Pa. She did not include any death date for James. His wife, Ruby Foden Beidler married 2nd husband Walton M. Henry.
In the same letter, Carrie mentioned that James' wife, Ruby, had remarried and the second husband had adopted James' only child.

There are two death certificates for James Herbert Beidler Jr. The first one is dated 5-28-42 by the Coroner, and does not have the details about the cause of death, other than to say "Fractured skull-right side below ear. It also says "INQUEST PENDING"
The second Death Certificate (pictured on this memorial) is dated 6-13-42 and gives the following details for the Cause of Death: "Struck on head by a discus which accidentally slipped from a students hand while practicing discus throwing on athletic field." (James was only 24 years old GES)
