Thomas Edward Sluder, 81, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Sluder; and sons, Edward Franklin Sluder and Roy Denver Sluder. Mr. Sluder was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired after 30 years of service with the Veterans Administration. He was a member of Connelly Memorial Baptist Church and an avid hunter. Surviving are his daughter, Freida S. Sarver and husband, Bud; son, Roger A. Sluder and wife, Sonya; adopted son, John Neff and wife, Debbie; daughter-in-law, Cathy Swain and husband, Mel; grandchildren, Christina Powell and husband, Don, Tommy Sluder, Stephen Swain and wife, Lindsay, Carrie Swain, Travis Sarver and wife, Carolee; and great- grandchildren, John Nimmo, Abigail Nimmo, Alex Powell, Violet Sluder, Cole Sarver and Maggie Sarver.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation , 2601 Willard Road, Suite 103, Richmond, VA 23294.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Mark Washington. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park
