Virginia Louise Gardner Hester, 101, of New Palestine, Indiana, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at her daughter's home in New Palestine. Funeral services for Mrs. Hester were held Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in Martin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Franklin Gardner officiated the services. Mrs. Hester was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She was born July 25, 1905 in Gardner, Tennessee to the late Claude Gardner and Cora Estelle Nowlin Gardner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hester was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. Hester; and a son, Robert M. Hester. Mrs. Hester is survived by two daughters, Betty Jean Schroeder (Ronald) of New Palestine, Indiana, and Georgia Louise Arnold (Stanley) of Dunnigan, California; two sisters, Gwendoline Alexander of Martin, and Cornelia Ortman of Martin; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
