Funeral services for Annie Marie Gustafson Eary, 86, of Clifton, were held Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel, Brother Bill Schibler of Meridian officiating. Interment followed at the Rock Church Cemetery in Cranfills Gap. Eary died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Hamilton County, to Jake and Celeste (Beall) Newman. She attended Iredell High School. On July 18, 1936, she married Sherman O'Jay Gustafson. The couple had four children. He preceded her in death in 1979. She later married Emmett Eary, who preceded her in death in 2000. A homemaker, she enjoyed garage sales and gardening. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Gustafson, in 1979; by husband Emmett Eary in 2000; by daughter Barbara Jean Dixon in 1980; and by brothers Bennie Newman in 1989, James Newman in 1990, and Arthur Newman in 1971. Eary is survived by sons Robert and wife Joyce Gustafson of Ruidoso Downs, N.M., and Donny and wife Gale Gustafson of Clifton; daughter Carolyn Lackey of Benbrook; sisters Francis Kimbell, Joann Cochrane, and Linda Kearby; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers included Charles Lackey, Donald Lackey, Charles Lackey Jr., Terry Dixon, Chris VanBramer, and Michael Henry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Church Cemetery Fund. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
