Childress Brim was born the youngest son to John Green McBride and Sarah Jane Thompson in Johnson County Missouri before the family moved to May, Brown County, Texas when he was just a small child.

He married Emma Carrie Tanner in Brownwood, Brown County, Texas in 1894 and had 9 children.

He started his career as a Blacksmith in Brownwood. By 1910, he was a farmer who later died of heart failure at the young age of 53.

Childress was the Great Great Grandson of William James "Long Hunter" Harrellson Jr and "Whitefeather" Maky Nance Hawkins (Cheraw Indian)
