Mrs. Ida Thurston
Mrs. Ida Ann Thurston, 76, widow of Cyrus E. Thurston, died at 12:40 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. McKinley Jones, 1700 North Blvd.
Mrs. Thurston had not enjoyed good health for the past three years but had remained active until recently. For the past 10 days she had been confined to her bed. Her death was very unexpected, however, and comes as a distinct shock to her family and friends.
She was born Ida Ann Hills July 19, 1866 at Salem, N. Y., and seven years later the family came to Kansas and settled six miles southwest of Parsons where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Cyrus E. Thurston of that community Dec. 22, 1882. They farmed in Labette county until 1907 when they moved to Parsons where he established a feed store. He later worked as a carpenter and for several years for the Katy railroad. He died Oct. 4, 1930 and since that time Mrs. Thurston made her home with her children.
One daughter, Mrs. Goldie Minton, died July 16, 1940.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Viva Jones, Mrs. Edith Rorschack and Mrs. Gladys Clifford, all of Parsons; two sons, W. E. Thurston, Parsons, and G. M. Thurston, Mexico, Mo., 13 grandchildren and seven grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Methodist church and funeral services will be held there at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Mills Anderson. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Rude funeral home.
