Alfred C. Thomas Sr., 94, of Hingham, formerly of Quincy, a retired bookkeeper and an Army veteran of World War I, died Friday at home after a long illness.
Mr. Thomas worked as a bookkeeper for Siegel Egg Co. Of Boston for 31 years before retiring in 1976.
He worked at the Boston Navy Yard during World War II.
Mr. Thomas was born in Newton. He lived in Hingham for three years.
Husband of the late Mabel (Worcester) Tomas, he is survived by a son, Alfred C. Thomas Jr. Of Hingham; two daughters, Helen M. Wesley of Virginia and Ethel J. Fletcher of Pembroke; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pyne Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., by Rev. Paul Atwater. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Briantree.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
