Evelyn Mae Vermillion Betts, 91, of Danville, died Friday March 16, 2012 in Lexington. Born March 4, 1920 in Boyle Co., she was the daughter of William Taylor and Mary Florence Greer Vermillion. Evelyn was the widow of Carl J. Betts.

She retired after 24 years as a seamstress at Palm Beach Co. Evelyn was a member and past Sunday school teacher of the Noah Club at Gethsemane Baptist Church and past member of Lancaster Road Homemakers. She loved sewing, cooking and quilting and won the grand prize at the Boyle County Fair in 2009 for her quilting. She was always lending a helping hand to her family and friends.

Survivors include
a son Carl J. (Charlotte) Betts of Hendersonville, N.C.;
a daughter Deborah Lynn (Bob) Gresham of Lexington;
three grandchildren, Mary Charlotte Bizzell, Sarah Elizabeth Betts and April McCrickand;
four great-grandchildren, Zoe Bizzell, Christine, Calvin and Allie McCrickard;
a niece Bunny Sue Gambriel.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service at Stith Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Burial in Danville Memorial Gardens.
