Obituary: Egie was born January 21, 1911 in Toledo, Ohio, a daughter of Cyrus and Jane (Jeremy) Butler. When she was a child, her family moved to Michigan; but eventually returned to Toledo where she met Donald Hall. Following their marriage, they remained in Toledo until 1936 when they moved to Allegan County. In 1943, they settled in Otsego Township. Egie was a homemaker raising eight children. She enjoyed cooking and baking and her children remember Egie singing to them when they were young. She also was involved with her children's 4-H Club activities and PTA. In the late 1940s, she hosted many Sunday family get-togethers at their home. Egie has been a long-time member of Martin United Methodist Church and in later years was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Moose Lodge in Otsego. She looked forward each year to attending Credit Union Dinners. Egie's family includes her children Jane (Dick) Butler, James Hall, Dale (Dolores) Hall, Mary Lou Blank, Austin (Zaida) Hall, Carl (Annette) Hall, and Rose Ann Hall; a sister Frances McMillen; 27 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Egie died Sunday, March 24, 2002 at Alamo Nursing Home and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Donald and his wife Viola, 2 grandchildren, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. Friends may spend time with her family 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Rupert, Durham, Marshall, & Gren Funeral Home, Plainwell Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 am Thursday, March 28 at the funeral home, Rev. Bill Bills leading the service. Burial follows next to her husband at Hillside Cemetery, Plainwell. Memorials may be given to Martin Methodist Church.
