He was born May 3, 1929, in Utica, a son of Hollis and Judith Muser Sassman. Mr. Sassman was a United States Air Force veteran. On October 31, 1959, Roger married Dorothy Kasperek in St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. He retired as a computer programmer and analyst from Chicago Pneumatic in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul's Church.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his children and spouses, Steven and Felicia Sassman and their children Colin and Paige, Palm Bay, FL, Lori and Mark Davies and their children Adam and Melanie, Chittenango, NY, and Mark and Lisa Sassman and their children Mark and Michael, Carmel, IN; and his sister, Cheri Sassman. Roger's sister, Beverly A Vaeth , passed away May 5, 2012.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, and Dr. Alicia Detraglia, for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be, Monday 10:30 a.m. from Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main Street, Whitesboro, and 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 5-7 p.m.
