Gerald John Bina, went peacefully to our Lord, on May 4, 2012, at the age of 85.

Gerald was born on May 31, 1926, to Joseph Bina and Pauline Dvorak Bina of Conway, ND. Gerald was admired and respected by many. He was an outstanding craftsman known for his extraordinary carpentry skills, and was instrumental in the renovation of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ardoch, where Gerald and Irene were the church caretakers for years.

Gerald was a leader in his community, serving on the local church council, school board and city council. Gerald also served as Mayor for the city of Ardoch for many years. Gerald's hobbies were many, but his love for the outdoors was his greatest passion, one which he generously shared with his family. Gerald led by example for his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and his presence in this world will be greatly missed.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Irene Kowalczik Bina, of Grand Forks, ND, and his children, Geraldine (Michael) Teevens, Bismarck, ND; Mary (James) Frymark, Madison, WI; Robert (Rose)Bina, Grand Forks, ND; Randy(Elizabeth) Bina, Bismarck, ND; Bev Bina, Grand Forks, ND; and Pauline (Michael) Halpenny, Twin Cities, MN.

Gerald also leaves behind 17 grandchildren Peter (Kelsey Black) Teevens, Rapid City, SD; Tony (Cassidy) Bina, Grand Forks, ND; Paul Teevens, Bismarck, ND; Aaron (Kristen) Bina, Grand Forks, ND; Cassie (Matt) Wildenberg, Appleton, WI; Robbie Bina, Grand Forks, ND; Scott Bina, Bismarck, ND; Andrew Teevens, Bismarck, ND; Larissa Frymark, Milwaukee, WI; Brett Bina, Bismarck, ND; Brian (Brittney Dunkel) Bina, (Duluth, MN); Dustin Frymark, Madison, WI; Loni Muus, Grand Forks, ND; Molly Bina, Bismarck, ND; Grace Halpenny, Twin Cities, MN; Emma Halpenny, Twin Cities, MN; and Kourtney Muus, Grand Forks, ND. Gerald also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren, (Aiden Bina, Logan Bina, Layla Bina, Ella Wildenberg, Kya Wildenberg, Summer Teevens, Carter Bina, and Emily Bina).

Gerald is also survived by three siblings: Benedict Bina, Conway, ND; Pauline Bina, Reno, NV; and Alice DeSantis, Topeka, KS. Gerald is preceded in death by his infant son, Thomas Bina; his grand-child, Kori Muus; his parents (listed above), and his siblings, Edward, Clifford, Agnes, Marcella, Henrietta, Mary Jo, Beatrice, Joseph, and Daniel.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church 1018 18th Ave. S. in Grand Forks.

VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service & Rosary on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the mass at the church.

INTERMENT: St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Ardoch, ND.
