George was born in Washington DC to German immigrants, Henry Caspari and Catherine Weitzel [pronounced Katerina]. George served in the US Army during the Spanish American War in 1898. He married Geneva Porter in 1904. They initially moved to Salt Lake City, Utah while he worked for the railroad a few years. Then they moved their family to Yuba, CA where he was a carpenter for many years. Together, George and Geneva Porter Caspari had 5 children: Christine Ann Caspari, Cora Caspari, Henry George Caspari, Clara Caspari and George Joseph Caspari Jr.
