Dorothy Ennen, age 91 of Bellingham, passed away June 23, 2008. She was born October 5, 1916 in Mesa, AZ to Elmer & Anna (Grasser) Morris. She grew up on Whidbey Island where she graduated from high school. Dorothy attended Success Business College and worked for Follis Real Estate in Bellingham.
Dorothy married Adalbert "Del" Ennen in Bellingham on December 17, 1944. Del and Dorothy, along with Herb and Betty, owned and operated Ennen's Food Stores. She worked in the family business for twenty-five years.
Dorothy was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Assistance League, Bellingham Golf & Country Club and the Bellingham Yacht Club. Dorothy enjoyed golfing, traveling, and playing bridge. She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Dorothy was an intelligent, gentle and spiritual woman.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Del in 1990. She is survived by her son David (Patricia) Ennen of Bellingham; grandsons Nate (Kate) Ennen of Driggs, ID, Nick Ennen and Mikey Ennen of Bellingham, daughter Lori Anne Ennen and sister Wilma Johnson.
Visitation will be held at Westford on Tue. July 1st from 3-5 PM. Graveside services will be held at Greenacres Cemetery on Wed. July 2nd at 2 PM. Donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice, 800 E.
