) John Davis was a soldier during the Revolutionary War; he served as a Private in Captain Hadley's Co of North Carolina He removed to Greene Co., GA and from there is moved to Morgan Co., GA. He was in Morgan County in 1807 when the county was laid out. His will is dated 27 Sept 1813, and was proved in Morgan County 17 Jan 1814.

According to one source, he and his wife are buried in a corner of the yard, located on the homestead of their son, George Cook Davis, which still stands, on Davis Academy Road, near Rutledge, in Morgan Co., Ga.
