Mr. & Mrs. Hans Anderson came to North Dakota from Norway where they were born. They came to the Maddock area in 1885 from Rothsay, Minn.
Hans, at the age of 39, was killed by lightning in the entrance at Immanuel Church on June 23, 1898.
Lena, at the age of 23, was left with four small boys. They were Albert, Ludvig, Emil and Bernt. A daughter, Emma, had died at the age of two months. Lena remained a widow for 47 years.
Albert Township got its name from Hans and Lena's baby, because he was the first baby born in the new township. His name was Albert Anderson
