Emmie Selman was raised in Leon County, Texas. When C. P. died of heart failure in 1937, Emmie stayed on the farm until 1945. She then sold it and moved to Melrose, New Mexico to be near her two daughters, Ruby Pierce and Pauline Bryant. She lived to be 95.
