SANTA FE - Jo Anna Mary Abschneider went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. She was born in Rosenberg on October 18, 1925, to Joe and Bessie Anderson.
Before Jo Anna was a wife and mother, she worked as a nurse's aide then raised their family in the Arcadia/Santa Fe area where she resided for 60 years.
Her hobbies were knitting and sewing, as demonstrated by the many Afghans and other gifts bestowed upon her family throughout her lifetime.
Survivors include her loving husband of whom she married July 30, 1944, Joe G. Abschneider; daughter, B. Joyce and husband, Glenn Hogan; sons, Joseph and wife Anna M. Abschneider, David Lee and wife, Patti Abschneider, Russell and wife, Debbie Abschneider; grandchildren, Sandra Abraham, Rodger Hogan, Henrik Abschneider, Annie Marie Abschneider, Gerald Abschneider, Heather Calhoun, Brian Abschneider, Carlee Abschneider, Tressa Abschneider; great-grandchildren, Sarah Marie Abraham, Ian Abraham; brothers, Adolph Anderson of Richmond, Walter and wife, Jerlene Anderson of Richmond and Edwin and wife, Loyce Anderson of Rosenberg.
Family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2005, from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, 77563; services will immediately follow with interment at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Brian Abschneider, David Abschneider, Joe Abschneider, Jr., Russell Abschneider, Jason Calhoun and Rodger Hogan.
In recent years she had suffered from Alzheimers and was cared for by Baywind Village and Regency Hospice, to which her family offers a very special thanks; and in lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Jo Anna's name to Regency Hospice, 1100 Gulf Freeway, Suite 122, League City, TX 77573.
