"Died, Sunday, December 2 at 10:00 a.m. at her home near Millersville -- Mrs. Mary A. Schoeffel, aged 40-years, 7 months, and 2 days. She was the wife of George Schoeffel. She was born and raised near the Catholic Church at Millersville. She was taken sick about ten days after the death of her son and was sick about four weeks with typhoid fever. She had the best of care and was getting along nicely until the day before her death when hemorrhage of the bowels set in and soon claimed its victim. She was the oldest daughter of Joseph L. Andres. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her loss. The children are: Frank, Anna, Clara, Rose, Odilia, Joseph, Clarence, Florence, and Lucy. Besides, she leaves her father and mother, two brothers, Jacob and Joseph, and five sisters, Mrs. Johanna Toeppe, Millersville; Mrs. Katy Gabel, Fremont; Mrs. Lena Diehr, Scott Township; Mrs. Rosa Kirsch, Gibsonburg; Mrs. Theresa Young, Fremont; and a host of friends. Her son, 19-years old, died a little over a month ago of typhoid fever. In caring for him, she contracted the disease which later caused her death. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in this, their sad bereavement."
NOTE: Two infant children younger than the age of two preceded her in death: Joseph Louis Clarence Schoeffel,#1 and Maria Catherina "Mary" Schoeffel. Subsequent to her death, daughter Odilia/Otilla Theresia "Tillie" Schoeffel died at the age of 11 in 1902.
