Old Mrs. Carico, widow of the man Carico who was killed by the Yankees in Wytheville during the late war, was buried at Speedwell Church, yesterday.

Her husband, Wilkerson (Wilks) Carico was killed on July 18, 1863 in the Battle of Wytheville. He was about 61 years old and was, most likely, buried in this cemetery also.

The parents of the above grandchildren were Rufus Cregger and Elizabeth Louise Carico. Elizabeth was born March 4, 1839 and died December 17, 1888 and may possibly be buried in this cemetery.

Aurelia's first born, Ann F. Carico married Josiah B. Pauley who served as a 2nd. Lieutenant with Co., B, 45th Virginia Infantry. He was captured at the battle of Piedmont and was a prisoner of War at Johnson's Island in Ohio. Most likely, Ann is buried in this cemetery. daughter, Martha, who married John McBride, died August 20, 1880. She, too, is probably buried in this cemetery.

son James followed the family of his bride-to-be to Scott County, Virginia. He married Sarah A. Kinsler daughter of Andrew J. Kinsler and Eliza A. King. See FAG #19241744 for James and Sarah's son, Steve.
