She was born February 15, 1926 in Manti, Utah to Virgil Mohonri Decker and Edith Pearl Kjar Decker. She attended schools in Manti and graduated from Manti High School in 1944. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she met her husband Rex Lee Young at the Coconut Grove. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Manti Temple on March 1, 1946. They made their first home in Salt Lake City, Utah for 23 years then moved to Layton, Utah for 20 years and have lived in Sunset, Utah since 1989 until failing health put her in Washington Terrace Nursing Home. Carol loved children and ran a daycare in Layton. She worked as a ten-key operator for First Security Bank in Salt Lake City. She loved to keep up on family, news and sports.
She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Rex; son, Leslie; daughters, Karen (Jimbo) Blain, Pamela Maurer, Kellie (Bill) Boudreau; brother, Lee Decker; daughter-in-law Leigh; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews and friends who love her dearly. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Douglas Rex Young; great grandson, Conner Webb; brothers, Boyd Decker and Curtis Decker.
We would like to thank the staff at Washington Terrace Care and Rehabilitation and Inspiration Hospice for their kind and loving care of our mom. We would like to thank Sunny, Ann and the others too numerous to mention.
Viewings will be held Friday, May 4, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah and Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow the viewing Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Redwood Memorial Park.
