Evelyn Bleth, 89, Bemidji, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Evelyn Georgia Bentley was born Sep. 1, 1908, the daughter of Bert and Minnie (Shere) Bentley, in Clearwater, Minn. She moved with her parents at the age of 1, to Bemidji, where she attended school. She married Roy Moen on Oct. 1, 1927, in Bemidji. They farmed in the Carr Lake, Minn., area, where she lived for 36 years. Roy died in 1961. She then worked as a cook for the Carr Lake School until 1971. She married John Bleth on Jan. 1, 1972, in Bemidji. They lived in the Carr Lake area until 1978, when they moved into Bemidji. John died in 1979. She worked as a Carr Lake News reporter for the Bemidji Pioneer for many years.
She is survived by daughters, Alice Torgerson, Bemidji, and Marlyee Morlan, International Falls, Minn.; sons, Walter (Dionne), Bemidji, and Harold (Lila), Brainerd, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.; and a brother, Elmer (Ruby) Bentley, Hibbing, Minn.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Della Schwartz; and a son, Jerry.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday in Bethel Lutheran Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji. Memorials are suggested to the Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association.
