He earned his Eagle Scout rank by the display of his plaque. Jim faithfully had taken care of The Keagy Cemetery Grounds until the time of his death.

Gettysburg Times Newspaper reported:

James G Keagy, 54 of rd Rd Hanover R 5 died Wednesday morning at Hanover Hospital. He was a son of the late Charles M and Edna Staugh Keagy. He had been employed as a maintenance worker for the Hanover National guard Armory and was a member of United Methodist Church. Keagy was assistant laster of Boy Scout Troop 105, St. Matthew Lutheran Church and was a member of the Order of the Arrow and the Federation of Bible Classes. Surviving is a sister Mrs Harriet E Meckley Ft Wayne jid. The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 at Methodist Church with Rev William Walker officiating. Burial will be in The Keagy cemetery. Friends may call at Wetzel Funeral Home Hanover Friday evening. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church.
