William was a Revolutionary War veteran who settled on the East Fork of Poplar Creek with his wife, Susanna, daughter of Thomas Jones, and the extended family. According to Snyder Roberts' "Story of Oliver Springs," Vol.IV, P. 28, she was buried with her husband in the Family Cemetery of Jacob Peak, who was married to her sister Mary.
