Beatrice A. Tardiff, 94, of Sedgewood Commons died there Saturday. She was formerly of Deering Pavilion, Portland. She was born in Waterville, a daughter of Joseph and Lucy Veillieux DeRocher, and graduated from high school there. She also graduated from Mount Marici Academy and attended a business school in Waterville, now Thomas College.
Mrs. Tardiff was a self-employed maker of draperies, some of which were hung in the Blaine House. She worked with various interior decorators, including Roger Withington, Carlton Earls, Marshall Campbell and Herbert Swatze.
She was a life member and past president of the 40 & 8 Club, and a member of the Ralph Caldwell American Legion post. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Portland. She retired to Portland 25 years ago.
A granddaughter, Diane Rougier, died previously.
Surviving are a son, Robert Tardiff of Saco; a daughter, Cecile Bolduc of Warwick, R.I.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Waterville. (Portland Press Herald 5/12/1997)
