William C. Moomaw, age 91, of Canton passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011. He was born June 16, 1919 in Beckley, WV. to the late Clacey and Ina Moomaw. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a faithful member of the Canton Baptist Temple for 59 years and was known as Bill the smiling greeter. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne, Keith and Lloyd; sister, Haley Adkins. William is survived by his loving wife of 71 years; son of South Carolina; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Canton Baptist Temple Chapel, 515 Whipple Ave. NW with Pastor Mike Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held in the Canton Baptist Temple Chapel on Sunday, January 23 from 3 to 5 PM and for one hour prior to services on Monday in the church chapel from 10 to 11 am. The Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Canton Baptist Temple.
