Nellie May Thomas was born to Marcus Lafayette Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Cutrell on June 7th, 1898 in Sebree, Webster Co., KY. She married Winfred Cleveland Shelton on Feb. 1st, 1916 in Robertson, Tennessee. They had 7 children: James R., Lloyd A., Mary Lenora(Lenore), Nellie Louise(Louise), Winfred Cleveland Jr.(Junior, Shell), Wilma Doris, David Howard (nee Shirley Mac), and Carolyn Jeanette.

They divorced and Nellie married Benjamin Kuntzner and they had son, John Eaton (Johnny) Kuntzner.

Nellie died in El Paso, TX on November 9th, 1972 approximately 9 months after the death of her first husband, Winfred Shelton.
