Jerry D. Bien, age 64, of Brownwood died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Brownwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 30, at the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Deacon Patricia Banks will officiate and burial will follow the service.

A visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born November 4, 1947 in Brownwood the son of Joe D. and Thelma Hash Bien. He attended schools in Brownwood and later served in the U. S. Army. He worked as a brakeman and conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. He married Karen Day in Acuna, Mexico in 1996 and had lived in Brownwood all of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Bien of Brownwood. Children – Sheri Smith of Wills Point, Texas, Michael Bien of Pecos, Texas, Jason Bien of Dallas, Texas, Kelly Etheredge of Roscoe, Texas, Sara Newton of Lake Brownwood
2 Special step-daughters that he raised, Sandie Villaloves and Julie Ballard. His Mother – Thelma Long of Brownwood, grandchildren – Adeline, Pace, Cadden, a new baby Tyler Austin, Sydney, Hunter, Vickie Jo, Davis and Alex
Sister – Carol Biezak of Atlanta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Joe Wayne Bien.
