Long Time Alma Resident Dies
Leonard Van Spronssen passed away Monday, 26 October at the Harlan County Memorial hospital at the age of 90. Mr. Van Spronssen had been in failing health for the past months.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Mr. Van Spronseen farmed for many years north of Republican City. Later he moved to Alma and for a time was employed by the County and later served as caretaker at the Alma cemetery, being instrumental in numerous improvements at that place.
He is survived by a niece, Mrs. Florence Lambrich of Imperial, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at the Zulauf-Banta Chapel in Alma, Thursday, 29 October at 1 p.m. and burial will be in the Republican City cemetery.
He was the son of Richard Van Spronssen and Phoebe Helen Nicolson.
