David Hugh Young Sr., 68, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 in his home in Green Valley, Arizona. He was born in Springfield, Missouri, January 20, 1944 to Hugh and Mary Young. Beloved husband of Barbara Young, beloved father of Alice, Donna, Kathleen, Mary Elizabeth, David Jr., Bonny and Barbi, beloved grandfather of Rebecca, Brian, Teresa, Katie, David, Sarah and grandbaby on the way.

David graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri and attended SMSU in Springfield prior to enlisting in the Navy. He was stationed on the USS Kearsarge during the Vietnam War.

Over the years he worked as manager of Howard Johnson's Motor Lodges in Springfield, Missouri, Mobile, Alabama and Independence, Missouri; at General Motors and for many years in Information Technology at Marion Laboratories (later Sanofi Aventis) in Kansas City, Missouri.

David willed his body to the University of Arizona Medical School, requesting cremation. At his request, no public services will be held. A private memorial service was held by the family.
