(3)Pennsylvania Births and Christening,1709-1950 film#1035731I am intrigued by Katrina Barbara SELL, 2nd wife of Ludwig HAHN Sr who died about 1812 (Fred. Co, MD Wills Ludwick HAWN, RB1-380, 12 Apr 1813, exr: Henry & Jacob HAWN).

I'd like to discuss these families with you, as we have always thought there was a Hahn/Sell marriage somewhere there around Silver Run in now Carroll County, but we've never been able to find any data. Our thinking was that one of the descendants of Silver Run resident Henry SELL Junior (as in younger) a.1725-1797 married a Hahn. But Kat. Barbara Sell's birth date of 1746 would barely fit the bill, and she is not named in Henry's will of 1797 (GM3-184, 31 Aug 1797, exr: John HULL).

There was another SELL family in the area of Monocacy in the 1740's: Adam SELL a.1700-1767, so he is a possibility. After some years in NC with two of his daughters, he is supposed to have returned to Monocacy where he supposedly died in 1767. Who would he have lived with then in Monocacy (a rhetorical question). He had a daughter Aeltje, born 1724 in Germantown who was raised Mennonite (her memoirs in Moravian Records). She converted to Lutheran in the Monocacy area and was married to Christopher ELROD in 1743 at Monocacy. They died in Forsythe Co, NC in 1785 (he) and 1804 (she). Another daughter Catherine Sell 1734-1821 born Conewago was married in NC in 1763 to Henry BOYER 1729-1796.

Some of my other relations in the area are HESSON; LEISTER; MERCKEL: MOEHRING; MYERS; NICODEMUS.

Is this Ludwig Hahn born 1734 a son of the Loudwig HAUN who died 1765 in Frederick County (Fred. Co. Wills A1-240, 20 May 1765, exr: Andrew Haun al)? I see he arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Samuel on 16 Aug 1731, with family members. Also on the ship was Conrad ECKERT, who I know bought land in Digges Choice in York/Adams County at about the same time my ancestor Hendrick SELLEN bought his land from Digges.

Since I mentioned land holdings, do you have a good source for the owners/taxpayers in the Pipe Creek Hundred in the 1740-1800 era? I seem to recall that the Carroll Co. Hist.Soc. in Westminster has some data, perhaps done by Tracy in the 1930's or 1940's? I've never been able to pin down exactly where Henry Sell lived near Silver Run.

Any interest in any of this? Be glad to share what I have. Thanks,

Richard Sell
