Mrs. Edith Tyler Walker of Tappajannock passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2002. She was born May 9, 1914 in Augusta, Georgia, to Benjamin Maury and Irene Spencer Tyler, later of Richmond and Dunnsville. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Tyler Haile; brother Benjamin Maury Tyler, Jr.; and husbands, Conrad E. Rogers of McComb, Mississippi and William M. Walker of Richmond County.
While living in Mississippi, she was active in the family wholesale business, her church and the musical life of the community. After returning to Virginia, she was employed at Southside Bank and served as the Registrar of Essex County. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was the president of the women of the church and a member of the vestry.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her sister, Betty Tyler Woolsey of Warsaw and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held September 29 in Essex Cemetery, Tappahannock. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 278, Millers Tavern, Va. 23115.
