I found this post on ancestry.com about Squire Smith Pope's death:
"All Pope Family Trees show that Squire Pope died 20 September 1839; but I found him on the 1840 census, with his wife Sally, and son Justus. They are living in Township 68, in Lee County. He is living next door to his son Isaac, and his daughter Touradocta (or "Turan") and her husband Lotan Briggs."
I checked the 1840 census and it does show the above. If anyone has proof of his death, please contact me. Thank you.
Note: On the 26 Nov 2013 I located his death year on FamilySearch.org on FamilyTree to be 1841. I have made the correction on this memorial. Sunflower Lady
