Stanley E. Bergstresser, 93, of 43 W. Depot St., died yesterday in Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Palmer Township.
He was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Hellertown before retiring in 1959.
Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Pliny A. and Estelle More Bergstresser.
He was a life member of First United church of Christ in Hellertown, and a past president, secretary and elder of the church Consistory.
He was the oldest past Master of Hellertown lodge 583, F&AM, a 32nd degree Mason, member of Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, past officer of Hellertown Castle 112, Knights of the Golden Eagle, and I.O.O.F. Saucon Lodge 606, past vice president and member of the board of directors of Union Cemetery of Hellertown, and member of Dewey Fire Co., of Hellertown and National Rural Letter Carrier's Association.
His wife, the former Florence S. Grube, died
Sept. 1, 1987.
Survivors include three sons, Neal G. of Columbia, Md., Lee R. of Palmer Township and Ray M. of New Providence, N.J.; a sister, Catherine Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First U.C.C. in Hellertown. Internment will be in Umion Cemetery in Hellertown. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc. in Hellertown, and 10:30 a.m. Saturday to time of services in the church. F&AM services wll be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
