He was born to Herbert and Margaret "Nettie" (Linge) Annable.

Per the 1910 federal census, the family lived in Cleveland, Ohio. Also in the home were two siblings, Jeanette (5) and Helen (3) and a maternal uncle, Winfred Linge. His father and uncle were both employed as general machinists.

According to the 1920 federal census, Herbert, Jr. at 17 yrs still lived with his parents and a 13 yr old sister, Priscilla in Cleveland. His father worked as a machinist at a machine shop and Herbert, Jr. was an office boy for a wholesale hardware company.

On June 14, 1926, Herbert, Jr. married Canadian born, Clara Schimnowski (21) in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Her parents were William and Helen (Bransky or Bradsky) Schimnowski. According to the marriage records, he was an engineer.

Herbert and Clara had a son on April 25, 1927 that they named Robert Willim. (Robert passed away July 26,2009 in Cleveland, Ohio.)

The 1930 federal census shows they lived with Clara's parents and brother, William in Cleveland. They paid $25 mo. rent. Clara's father worked as a janitor in a dressmaking shop, William was a helper in an electrical motor factory and Herbert was an electrician at an auto factory.

Herbert and Clara must have divorced as I find that she remarried to a George Edward Bowman and had a daughter, Judith in 1941. (Clara was again a divorcee when she died on August 23, 1986 in Parma, Ohio.)

1949, 1951 and 1953 Lakewood, Ohio city directories show Herbert J. worked as an electrician at Hertner Electric and he lived with his wife, Theresa A. at 1480 Winton Ave.
