Funeral services for Vernie Eldon Brassfield, 76, of 701 West Forty-fourth street terrace, Kansas City, who died yesterday at St. Luke's hospital, will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery at Galt.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Eula Anson of Chillicothe, and a sister, Mrs. Fred McCullough of Chillicothe.

He also leaves his wife, Mrs. Mae Brassfield of the home; a son, Jack E. Brassfield, Lake Lotawana, and seven grandchildren.

For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Brassfield operated the Galt telephone exchange. He also was bulk oil salesman for the Sinclair Refining Company. The Brassfields had lived in Kansas City since his retirement.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Galt and of the Westport Methodist Church in Kansas City.

He was the son of Sherman and Minnie (Peters) Brassfield and was born July 22, 1887, in Sullivan County.
