A loving father, grandfather and friend, he passed away at 1:55 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 83, a native of Tickfaw and resident of Baton Rouge. He was retired from Exxon Mobil. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday. Religious service in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Dr. Stephen Trammell. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Rose of Ponchatoula; a son and daughter-in-law, Galeon and Barbara Albin of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Irene Karlton of Denham Springs, Beulah Andrews of Baton Rouge, Doris Landry of Arizona and Imogene Argo of Atlanta; five grandchildren, David and Dwayne Rose, both of Ponchatoula, Stephen Albin of Denham Springs, Galeon Albin II of Baton Rouge and Cindy Chamberlain of Denham Springs; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Smith Albin; parents, Allie and Finess Cowan Albin; two sisters, Octavia Desouge and Virginia DePriest; and three brothers, Hollis, Julius and Gene Chavers.

He was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 160 in Hammond and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J.
