Ruth Lillian Abramson, 76, of
473 E. Houk St., Ironwood, died
Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1995, in Ironwood.
She was born Aug. 17, 1918, in
Ironwood, daughter of the late
John and Hilma Haavisto. She
had resided in Ironwood most of
her life.
During World War II, she had
worked in the shipyards in Detroit
and for many years worked
at the St. James Hotel in Ironwood,
retiring from the Gogebic
Medical Care Facility in 1970.
She had been a member of the
Vietnam Club.
Survivors include a son, Bryan
Jackson, of Ironwood; a daughter,
Marilyn Abramson, of Ironwood; four grandchildren; a
brother, Eugene Haavisto, of
Ironwood; a nephew, Robert
Haavisto, of Jacksonville, Fla.;
and a niece, Jean Brunei], of
Ironwood.
She was preceded in death by a
grandson, Rick Jackson, on Dec.
25,1994.
Visitation will be held Thursday,
Jan. 5, 1995, from 5 to 7
p.m. at the Ketola-Burla Funeral
Home, Ironwood, with family services
at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Ironwood.
