Randy was born April 11, 1952, in New Castle, Indiana to Delbert and Velma Abbott. He was the youngest brother to Ben, Peggy, Del and Melinda. Randy spent his younger years in Indiana and Kentucky. The family moved to San Diego, CA in 1963. He graduated from Crawford High School in 1970.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1971 and was part of the 3703 Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base. Randy was a "jack of all trades" and had many interests.

In 1990, he followed his calling and channeled his compassion into nursing. During his 21 years as a nurse, he worked at many facilities in California, Alaska, and Colorado. The last 18 months were spent at Mantey Heights Rehabilitation and Care Center in Grand Junction, CO.

He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, and spending time with his family. Randy had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for telling stories and jokes.

In 2003, Randy met the love of his life, Gina Marie. They spent the next nine years exploring the beautiful state of Colorado and sharing their love of nursing by caring for others.
