A son of Roy A. and Kathryn C. (McDonald) Karns. Mr. Karns married Jean Penrod on June 8, 1967. He was survived by his mother, his wife, four children: Melanie Jane, Mary Katherine, Russell Eli, and Rebecca Ann Karns, all at home; and ten brothers and sisters: Mary H. Jeffrey of Frederick, WI; Virginia R. Wink of Everett RD 2; Lawrence W. Karns of Breezewood RD 1; Ray A Karns of Hopewell RD 1; Raymond E. Karns of Charlotte, NC; Maxine Deeter of Fairhope, PA; Ethel M. Carroll of Richmond, VA; Gladys R. Karns of Breezewood RD 1; Vera R. Foor of Everett RD 2; and Nancy M. Karns of Breezewood RD 1.
Mr. Karns was a member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren of Tatesville. He was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1964, where he played football. He was a welder with the L. B. Foster Company of Wolfsburg.
Services were held at the Bethel Church of the Brethren with Rev. Charles Heltzel officiating. Burial in the adjoining church cemetery under the direction of the Conner-Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Everett, PA, with full graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 8 of Everett.
