Lucille Marie Mahlberg Geist was born at Mona, Arkansas August 16,1916 to Joesph and Mary Ann ( Olinger) Mahlberg. She passed away on June 21,2006 at Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington. She was 89 years old.

At age two, the family moved to Kit Carson, Colorado where they resided until 1923. They then moved to Minnesota where Lucille spent her school years. Due to the Depression in 1933, the family moved back to Kit Carson, Colorado where they had a farm.
In 1935, Lucille met Andrew Geist and they were married September 24, 1935. they then moved to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado and started a farming operation.

Moving into Cheyenne Wells, Colorado in 1963, Lucille worked at the Cheynne Wells hospital until age 78 when poor health caused her to retire. Andy and Lucille moved to Burlington,
Colorado in 1984. Lucille was a member of the St. Catherine's Catholic Church, the RSVP Club, the Cheyene Wells Democratic Party and the Old Wells Home Demonstration Club.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Michaerl Geist, a sister Mildred Soisson, one grand-daughter Angela Malone and one great grand-daughter, Taryn Faith Rogers.

She is survived by her daughter Pat Geist of Burlington, two sisters Veronica Ambrosier of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado and Irene Getman of Kit Carson, Colorado. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs Geist were held on Monday, June 26,
at 2 PM at the St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Burlington with Father Ernie Bond officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, June 25, 2006 from 6-8 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Arthritis Foundation and may be left at the First National Bank in Burlington.
