F. N. Chaffin Dies; Funeral Tomorrow
Goodyear, April 12
Fred Nelson Chaffin, 58, chief petty officer, U.S. Navy retired, died last night at Luke Air Force Base Hospital.
A resident of Goodyear, Mr. Chaffin was born in Huddleston, Virginia. He was stationed at Litchfield Naval Air Facility when he retired here nine years ago. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Phoenix and the Glendale Elks Lodge 1961.
Mr. Chaffin enlisted in the Navy in World War I and served 15 years. He was called back into service during World War II to serve six more years.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. tomorrow in A.L. Moore & Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams, the Rev. Francis Key Hawes and the Rev. D.E. Weitzel officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.
