Service for Dr. Mylie E. Durham, co-founder of Heights Hospital and a physician in Houston 45 years was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, in Heights Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. He died of a heart attack while playing golf at Pine Forest Country Club Wednesday, March 7, his 69th birthday.
Dr. Durham, born in Winnfield, had lived in Houston since 1914. He founded Durham Clinic, 411 W. 20th, and was a past president of the Harris County Medical Society.
Dr. Durham, 431 West 32nd Ave., graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1919. He was a member of the American, Southern, and Texas Medical Associations and Southwestern Surgical Congress.
He also was a fellow, International College of Surgeons, and a director of the Heights State Bank.
Dr. Durham was a charter member and past president of Pine Forest Country Club, a charter member of the Heights Rotary Club, and a member of the Houston Club, International Club, and Reagan Lodge 1037 A. F. & A. M., Arabia Temple of the Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, Jolly, two sons, Dr. Mylie E., Jr., and Dr. Charles A., two brothers, Ardis H. and Clarence, all of Houston, and seven grandchildren.
Burial was in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, Texas
