Cora Kelley Sanford was the daughter of pioneers - Walter E. Kelley (1886-1955) and Katherine Humphrey (1885-1980). She married Lt. (later Major General)Teddy H. Sanford on 21 February 1931. She was a school teacher during the Great Depression and also worked for the Oklahoma Welfare Department. From the beginning of World War II until his retirement in 1967, she accompanied her husband around the Army whenever possible. She had two children, Teddy H. Sanford, Jr. (b.1942) and Thomas Kelley Sanford (b.1947). She began showing signs of Alzheimers in 1982 and suffered with the disease the rest of her life. After her husband died in 1992, she was moved to the home of her son Ted in Kentucky where she remained until she died.
