Dice A. Ruby, 529 Penn Street, Huntingdon, died at 8:40 p.m., Monday, February 11, 1974, in J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since February 8. He had been in failing health for two years. He was 93.
The deceased was born April 4, 1880 in Orbisonia, a son of Valentine and Anna Ruby.
He was twice married. His first wife, Anne Norris, died in 1919. He was united in marriage to Dolly L. Puttman in 1921 and she died in 1957.
He is survived by the following children: Raymond, Samuel, William and Anne Ruby, all of Mapleton Depot; Jane, Ellen and Betty Ruby, all of Huntingdon; Mrs. Ruth Sword, Mercersburg; Mrs. Myrtle Powell, Littlestown and Franklin Ruby, Etters. Forty-three grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Three sons and four daughters preceded him in death. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He was of the Protestant faith.
During his life he was engaged in paperwood cutting and also worked as a sawmill operator.
Funeral services will be at 3:45 p.m., Thursday, at Brown's funeral home, Huntingdon. The Rev. Thomas . Owens of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church will officiate and interment will be made in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Henderson Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today and until the hour for the services on Thursday.
