Obituary:
Funeral services for John W. Rose, 84, Confederate veteran, who died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mr. N.C. Nelson; 1625 Two Notch Road were held at 11 o'clock this morning from Union Baptist church, near Blaney, with the Rev. Mr. Willis and the Rev. A.B. Kennedy in charge. Interment was in the churchyard.
Active pallbearers were six grandsons: F.J. Rose, J.E. Ross, Rembert Sanders, Hobson Rose, A.C. Rose, and Stanley Rose.
Honorary pallbearers were: L.D. Evans, John Motley, H.T. Jeffers, W.D. Kelly, Butler Evans and S.H. Ross.
Mr. Rose was a member of the Twelfth South Carolina regiment in the war and took an Active part in nine battles. He was a member of Union church.
Surviving him are three sons, S.W. Rose, J.I. Rose, and L.P. Rose, all of Blaney; two daughters Mrs. S.E. Rose of Blaney and Mrs. N.C. Nelson, Columbia; one sister, Mrs. W.D. Kelly of Columbia; and two brothers, J.T. Rose of Columbia, and A.K. Rose of Blaney, and 34 grandchildren, 58 great-grand children and one great-great-grandchild.
