Vol Murphy, was the eldest of ten children they were:
Caroline, Nelson, Jeff, Ballard, Will, Rachel, Mariah, Mary and Egletine Murphy. All born into slavery........
Came From ,Louisville, Kentucky .......
On the 1910 Houston County Census, we find Vol Murphy to be 49 years old.Head of household, living with his wife Fanny, who he has been married to for 20 years. He was born in Texas, and both his parents were born in Kentucky.He is a farmer. Also living in the household with he and Fanny, is his 22 year old stepson Tansy who is also a farmer. Tansy was born in Texas and so were both of his parents.

Note: Family Oral History as told to me by my grandfather Ed Murphy, Vol had two sons Bell , and Ed Murphy, and when Vol married, Fanny Bass all her children were grown , it was stated that she was the mother of( 6) kids but only the whereabouts of (4 ) was Known. on the 1880 census there was a 1, year old, name Florence Bass. living with Fannie... in the Sharp household. Step children; Betty Richardson Campbell, Andy Sharp, Tandy Hart

We find Vol, 23 years old on the 1880 Houston County Census living with his family, in Precinct Five, he was single and a farmer:

Gravesite Details

I walked and photographed the entire cemetery today. I did not find a grave marked by a headstone bearing this name. Carol Hoch was Johnson.
